nightmare & a wet dream.

People love to reference “The Jaws Effect” but in actuality the cultural effect of Jaws has been mostly positive longterm. An entire generation of marine biologists and conservationists were first inspired by Jaws. The popularity of Jaws brought in a wave of media about sharks including popular educational media that has drastically increased the publics appreciation for sharks as important species that we harm far more than they harm us and we should be protecting. Today the public’s view of sharks is much more positive than it was pre-Jaws, they were hated long before the movie it didn’t cause that, and organizations that actively protect sharks have far more support and funding.
